To the Women Who Want to Make Art of Their Lives

It was never supposed to make sense.

Life wasn't meant to be charted and graphed, planned and predicted in a way that feels safe to your fearful mind.

It wasn't supposed to unfold like a balanced equation, along a linear line, or in a way that you can manage if you control enough variables.

No babe, life is art.

No real rules.

Few boundaries.

Unlimited potential.

Life is meant to have its way with you, through you.

Colorful.

Chaotic.

Irreverent.

Powerful.

Passionate.

Purposeful.

Art doesn't make sense. Art can't be quantified or measured.

But art is what makes life worth living.

 Your pain, struggle, the indecision that keeps you up at night, the war in your mind feeling like somedays it might just split you in two...it's your soul fighting to create, to be set free, to fuck all the damn rules so you can create the life you were meant to live.

A life that doesn't make sense to your mathematical, "practical" mind.

Your soul wants to run free in a way you don't trust, yet.

You struggle to trust that which you don't understand, but it will not ease up, it won't go quietly into that good night, it keeps calling and begging and gnawing at your core.

You cannot shake it but you can't explain it, so you fight it.

I speak the language of soul, so let me interpret:

• You ARE extraordinary, called, and here to be a creator of something beyond that which most people will ever dare to live

• You ARE waking up, you have seen & felt too much, you can't ever let it go (as much as you try to be "rational" your spirit won't let you)

Life keeps fueling your fire, adding pain and pleasure, inspiration & desperation to your experience hoping you will use it to tell your story.

To bring it to your life in a way only you can do.

To paint a legacy that doesn't make sense in the moment but creates a masterpiece when all is said is done.

Stop trying to be regular.

Quit denying the artist soul fighting to be set free.
